Below you’ll find my top picks for best baby and toddler clothing brands.
With two daughters, I am always looking for heirloom, high quality baby clothes that can be passed down from one to the other, and clothes that will last through the washes.
I live by the mantra, “buy well, buy once“. I look to purchase pieces that are made of organic cotton, natural fibers and quality muslin so it is breathable and gentle on my daughters’ skin.
While you are paying a premium for these boutique toddler clothing brands, they definitely have multiple benefits over big retailer Zara baby clothes, H&M baby clothes or the typical Carter’s baby clothes:
- Natural fibers, better materials, better for your baby’s delicate skin.
- Stays intact wash after wash.
- Heirloom quality, great to pass down to the next sibling or for keepsake.
- Great resale value on most items as they have a niche, loyal following of buyers.
- Most are ethically produced with sustainable practices.
My Style Preference
For my personal style preference, I chose more classic patterns, neutral and pastel shades for my kids’ clothes. Keeping a similar colour palette allows for easier laundry sessions. I use washing nets for dresses and knits with baby laundry detergent. I try to always follow the recommended laundering instructions (usually less than 30 degrees Celsius) for each item.
If my shopping criteria and values resonate with you, I know you will enjoy the recommendations below. These stores also have beautiful photos for outfit inspirations, so you can do some “window shopping”.
I have listed a brief description and their shipping rates for my orders to Vancouver, BC, Canada. You’ll also see my shopping experience as well as my favourite sections/pieces from the store direct linked.
Tips on Mix and Matching Clothes
Children grow so fast. I recommend less is more, and creating a seasonal “capsule” wardrobe to truly get great cost-per-wear out of these quality clothes.
I go by 3 simple rules when it comes to buying clothes and styling my daughters. This helps to prevent option fatigue when choosing what to wear for your child, your child’s outfit looking too busy, or have clothes that are ill-fitting.
- Maximum 3 colours at one time: similar tones is best. Once you exceed 3 main colours (head to toe), the outfit start looking busy. In this case, black and white do count as colours.
- Maximum 2 prints or patterns at one time: checkered prints, pattered tops and dresses can quickly start looking crazy when you have too many things going on. It’s perfectly fine to have 2 patterns such as stripes for bows in the hair and floral patterns on the dress, while sticking with the same colour family.
- Balance the shape of the garments for top and bottom: if the top is loose and flowy, opt for a tighter fitting bottom and vice versa. When in doubt, clothes that fit too big is better than too small for little kids.
I am not affiliated with any of the shops below. I am recommending based on my own shopping experience and providing you with an honest review.

- I’ve only shopped in person at the local store before they moved to the new location, so I’m sure it’s even better now at the new location (4897 Main Street Vancouver, BC. V5V 3R9). 5. OAT Children
Have you searched high and low for those perfect neutral, sustainable and minimalistic pieces for your child? OAT or ‘On A Tuesday’ is a mothers-owned brand and was inspired by the owners’ love of minimalism. All of the pieces are unisex and go well together with your existing wardrobe pieces. They even have matching mommy’s sets.
Oat Children offer tracked shipping options worldwide. Shipping cost is calculated at checkout. Duties and Taxes vary based on shipping destination. My order came to $24 in shipping to Vancouver BC, Canada (NOT including duties).
Jenny’s Shopping Experience
- My order came wrapped in tissue paper in a box that was unfortunately damaged in shipment. There was a thoughtful handwritten note and a discount code for my next shopping spree.
- You can select to shop in (CAD$) and many other currencies, but I got slapped with a customs fee upon receiving the items. I purchased during their 100k celebration sale so I was not as upset, but it’s a surprise what the customs fee would be so I’d think twice before shopping outside of a great sale.
- The website is beautiful, minimal and easy to navigate with lots of photos. I especially love how the photos show what the clothes truly look like on the children, and all of the pieces I’ve purchased have come true to what was shown on the photos.
- Under each item, you are able to easily find the description of the material, fit and care instructions.
Jenny’s Favorites
- Playsuits: I have both the muslin overalls in vanilla, as well as the linen flutter sleeve jumpsuit in petal. They are both such well loved pieces by my daughter and pairs easily with a tank-top, t-shirt, or sweater underneath. All of their pieces mix and match so well with minimal effort from mommy stylist. I have been eyeing the sprinkle knit ribbed playsuit ever since I found out I’m going to be having a December baby…such a splurge but so cozy!
- Knits: I have the carmel chunky cardigan and the two tone chunky sweater in two sizes too large for my daughter (I’m stocking up because they always sell out!) but I can tell you the quality is wonderful. They are substantial knits with good weight on them without being too heavy. Fits a little large true to their description – the chunky look is so adorable!
- Shop their sales! They occasionally have mystery boxes for sale if you can’t decide which pieces to get for a great value. Make sure to add them on instagram to stay up to date on the sales.
6. Soor Ploom
Wearing beautifully crafted clothes can be a teaching moment for your children to cherish and care about the clothing they wear. Jenny’s Shopping Experience
- My order came extremely fast (from confirmation to delivery within 3 business days) in very compact in eco friendly packaging with a sturdy box and brown tissue paper with their sticker logo. Each item had their logo tag and you can tell they really pay attention to details.
- Each collection is released by season and sell out FAST! The website is categorized into the seasonal collection, essentials collection, swimwear collection and bedding collection. I found it very easy to navigate with large, beautiful photos for each of the pieces with a detailed size guide and description.
- Clothing items are truly unique and beautifully made in high quality organic pima cotton, linen and other natural fibers. Where the item is made is also listed clearly in the description. I would recommend checking the sizing as it is not typical North American sizing (by cms), fits a little smaller.
- Note that all prices are in USD$ and will be charged in USD$. There doesn’t seem to be an option to shop in other currencies.
- Customer service isn’t the most responsive.
Jenny’s Favorites
- Current collection pieces: watch for their release on instagram and be ready to add to cart and checkout right away if you see any pieces you love. Sizes in each piece are made in limited quantity and not often will they come back in the new seasonal release.
- Knits: this is one of the few stores I’ve come across that make clothes in 100% organic pima cotton. Pima cotton have longer fibers, thus are stronger and softer than organic cotton. It’s resistant to pilling, wrinkling and fading. I will be doing a detailed review after more endured wears out of the pieces I’ve purchased from Soor Ploom.
7. Chloe and Amelie

Jenny’s Favorites
- Dresses: exquisite selection of pretty and girly dresses. 3D floral fabrics in whimsical silhouettes. I’ve not seen anything in such pretty pastels and neutrals in any of our local or online boutiques! Jenny’s Shopping Experience
- My order came in a plastic bag with all of the contents individually wrapped in their own plastic bags. The dress I ordered came with a simple plastic hanger. There were no notes anything else in the packaging. It did arrive extremely quickly within 5 business days even though I chose the regular shipping option. My second order has taken way longer because it was ordered during the holiday season, and it really took the full 10+ business days to arrive.
- The website is simply built and has some broken image pages and not enough photos for some of the items. Many photos are taken from the online influencers themselves it seems. Navigation can get difficult with so many options to choose from, and the size filtering options are not organized (i.e. 2-3 years, 2-4 years then jumps to 3 months). You also cannot choose multiple sizes to filter with. Lots of repetitive items under different categories.
- You can see the prices in a variety of currencies but it will be charged and processed in GBP£ using the latest exchange rates.
- Sizes are European sizes so they can fit a bit smaller than typical North American sizes.
- The ordering process was very simple and straightforward. They ship immediately and had no delays.
Jenny’s Favorites
- Baby sets: the cutest selection of baby coming home outfits and sets available. I got the ivory 5 piece hospital coming home set for my daughter arriving this December.

- Hats: check out their collection of double pompom beanies, bonnets and berets.
- Girls’ dresses: take a look at these dresses and tell me they don’t instantly make your little girl into a doll! This Christmas, my toddler will be twirling around in this beautiful red hounds tooth dress with frill details.
This post was all about the best quality children’s clothing stores online. If you’ve searched high and low for some quality, unique, or neutral baby clothes in Canada and globally, check out the stores mentioned above.
I am certain once you make a purchase at one of the retailers I’ve recommended, you will be shocked at the quality difference between the large chain retailers mentioned above, and truly think twice before making that paper thin t-shirt purchase for your little one.
Happy shopping and if you’ve shopped at any of these boutiques, let me know what your experience has been!

It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did,
the internet will be a lot more useful than ever before.
